5KGE Farm Attendant Collecting Egg

Where Are Your Eggs Really Going?

Across Nigeria, poultry farming remains one of the most important sources of food and income for thousands of households. Yet behind the daily routine of feeding birds and collecting eggs remains a silent problem that continues to drain profit from many farms without notice.

In a recent survey conducted among poultry farmers across Nigeria, we found that over ninety percent of small farms with less than five thousand birds, medium farms with less than ten thousand birds and some large farms with over ten thousand birds, still rely heavily on manual methods to track egg production. For most of these farms, egg counting is done daily by farm attendants who count the eggs one after another and record the figures by hand. While this method may seem familiar and trusted, it comes with serious risks.

An overwhelming majority of farmers in the survey reported monetary losses linked directly to inaccurate egg counts and poor record keeping. These losses often go unnoticed until the farm begins to struggle with cash flow or unexplained drops in profit. When eggs are counted manually, mistakes are almost inevitable. Fatigue, distraction, pressure to rush and simple miscalculation all lead to figures that do not reflect reality.

Beyond honest mistakes, farmers also identified theft and unreported sales as major contributors to their losses. Without reliable and verifiable data, it becomes difficult for a farm owner to truly know how many eggs were produced, how many were sold and how many went missing. Nearly forty percent of respondents also pointed to poor supervision as a challenge. Many farm owners cannot be on site every day and must rely heavily on reports from attendants.

These challenges are not unique to a few farms. They reflect the everyday experience of poultry farmers across Nigeria and West Africa who want to grow their businesses but are held back by a lack of accurate production data.

This is the gap Eggsens was created to fill. Eggsens provides a smart egg counting solution designed specifically for poultry farms in Africa. By automating egg counting and tracking, Eggsens helps farmers eliminate human error, reduce losses from theft and regain full visibility into daily production.

We invite you to join the growing number of farmers taking back control of their farm’s production. With Eggsens, every egg counts and every profit matters. Send us a message or submit a request for a free SMEC brochure and see how we can help you protect and grow your hard earned profits.
